Spring 2017 Comparisons - OPI Exotic Birds Do Not Tweet (Fiji)

The only one of last year’s yellows that OPI put out that I didn’t get was the yellow from Tru Neons, if I ever pick that up I’ll be sure to throw it in!

From left to right One Chic Chick (Soft Shades 2016), I Just Can’t Cope-acabana (Brazil, Spring 2014), Never a Dulles Moment (Washington DC, Autumn 2016), Exotic Birds Do Not Tweet, Walking on Sunshine (‘80’s Rewind, Summer 2014), Darcy (Stunning, Summer 2013). Swatch sticks: Top: Towel Me About It (Retro Summer, Summer 2016), My Twin Mimmy (Hello Kitty, Spring 2016)

Exotic Birds is obviously darker than One Chic Chick and Towel, brighter than Dulles and less bright than Cope-acabana, but it’s close to the Mimmy/Walking On Sunshine/Darcy trio. They’re much more similar in person than in the picture (although the picture is a good proof that they aren’t all the same deep down!) Darcy’s a little brighter than the other three and has a smidge of subtle silver shimmer, and Mimmy and Walking on Sunshine are a tiny bit less vibrant, but they’re all close. Now, formulas. My bottle of My Twin Mimmy is a mini, so the formula is awful but that’s probably as much to do with being a mini as being yellow, so I can’t really judge that one fairly or accurately. Walking on Sunshine, although it’s not as flawless as a Gel Lab Pro formula would be (they totally need to make a yellow in that formula!), is still really great, because Lippmanns just are. I paid a good $18 for this one and it’s worth every penny. That said, Zoya was onto something by adding that subtle shimmer. There isn’t much but it does make application noticeably easier, shimmer does that. Now, Exotic Birds has the benefit of being made in 2017, when leaps and bounds of progress have been made in polish formulas all around. Exotic Birds also has a pretty solid formula for a yellow. I’d say get whichever of the three you can get easiest and cheapest.
