Holiday 2017 Comparisons - Orly Faux Pearl (Darlings of Defiance) - Part 1

From left to right: Ainsley (Cozy in Love, February 2017), Mixtaupe (As If, Autumn 2017), Tatum (Naturel 3, Spring 2017), McKenna (Sophisticates, Autumn 2017), Throne-in’ Shade (Street Regal, Autumn 2017), Faux Pearl, Erin (Spa Essentials), Tip Toe Through the Tulips (Spring Reveries, Spring 2014), Glimmer, Earth Angel (Painted Desert Sephora Exclusive, Summer 2015)

Faux Pearl is a lot like Erin in concept, just not in execution. They’re both nude shimmers, but Erin is sheer and Faux Pearl is opaque, Erin has a warm base but silver shimmer and Faux Pearl has a cool base with gold shimmer. McKenna is also in the same neighborhood, but it’s all cool with silver shimmer.

Holiday 2017 Comparisons - Essie Suit & Tied (Ring in the Bling) - Part 1

From left to right: Shape of my Heart (Core), Portia (Spa Essentials), Mixtaupe (As If, Autumn 2017), Tatum (Naturel 3, Spring 2017), Throne-in’ Shade (Street Regal, Autumn 2017), Modern Love (Autumn 2012), Cathy (Naturel 3, Spring 2017), Gretchen (Spa Essentials), Suit & Tied, The Look of Love (Bed of Roses, Spring 2017), Presley (Sophisticates, Autumn 2017), High Society (Rebel Debutante, Spring 2010)

Suit & Tied is far darker and rosier than anything else here – Gretchen and The Look of Love come closest but they’re not super-duper close or anything.

Autumn 2017 Comparisons - Essie Mixtaupe (As If) - Part 1

From left to right: Like a Virgin (Core), Tammy (Spa Essentials), Mixtaupe, Chantal (Naturel, Spring 2014), Tatum (Naturel 3, Spring 2017), Throne-In’ Shade (Street Regal, Autumn 2017), Tip Toe Through the Tulips (Spring Reveries, Spring 2014), Barking up the Wrong Sequoia (California Dreaming, Summer 2017), Gretchen (Spa Essentials)

I have nothing here exactly like Mixtaupe, because Like A Virgin is whiter and it and Tammy are sheers, and everything to the right is too brown, orange, or dark.

Autumn 2017 Comparisons - China Glaze Throne-In' Shade (Street Regal)

From left to right: Tatum (Naturel 3, Spring 2017), You’re So Vain-illa (Coca Cola, Summer 2014), Tiramisu for Two (Venice, Autumn 2015), Prelude to a Kiss (Cool Romance, Spring 2012), Shay (Touch, Winter 2011), Chantal & Taylor (Naturel, Spring 2014), Throne-in’ Shade, Phyllis (Chrysalis, January 2015), Cathy (Naturel 3, Spring 2017), Emperor’s New Clothes (Her Majesty, Holiday 2016). Swatch Stick: China Glaze What’s She Dune (Desert Escape, Summer 2015)

Now this color isn’t really my jam so I don’t have much like Throne-in Shade. Taylor and What’s She Dune are the closest things in my repertoire to Throne-in Shade but you probably already have something else like it.

Spring 2017 Comparisons - Zoya Tatum and Cathy (Naturel 3)

From left to right: Chantal (Naturel, Spring 2014), Tatum, You’ve So Vain-illa (Coca-Cola, Summer 2014), Taylor (Naturel, Spring 2014), Tiramisu for Two (Venice, Autumn 2015), Spencer (Naturel Deux, Autumn 2014), Prelude to a Kiss (Cool Romance, Spring 2012), Shay (Touch, Spring 2012), Cathy, Phyllis (Chrysalis, January 2015), Avril (Suede, Summer 2004), Gretchen (Spa Essentials), Emperor’s New Clothes (Her Majesty, Holiday 2016)

Cathy kind of looks like Shay without the shimmer, just a little darker. The shimmer in Shay is much less apparent on the nail than in the bottle, so they’re even closer. Phyllis is also close enough you don’t need them both. As for Tatum, it’s in the same boat as Vain-illa especially (if you have one you don’t need the other), Chantal (which is much lighter and warmer though), Taylor (which is darker), and Tiramisu for Two (a little darker and cooler.)
