Julep Lineup - Elsie, Emilie, Emily, Esmeralda

  • Elsie (Wonder Maven - Bask in the Heat, June 2017) is a really neat orange holographic. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a holo this color before! This says sheer on the front but it’s pretty opaque in two coats.
  • Emilie (It Girl - 2011) is a jade green. This reminds me of Jade is the New Black. Really nice!
  • Emily (Topaz for December, December 2015) is a cool blue with blue shimmer. The shimmer doesn’t show up as much as I wish it would but it’s still pretty sparkly.
  • Esmeralda (Bombshell - Emerald, May 2013) is a green glitter topper. I wore this over red for last holiday and it was super festive!

Summer 2017 Comparisons - Zoya River (Wanderlust)

Man, there’s just no way I can ever get Royal Navy to look right…

From left to right: Selene (Paradise Sun, Summer 2015), So Blue without You (Happy Holiglaze, Holiday 2013), Kiss the Girl (Ever Glaze), Charla (Sparkle, Summer 2010), Emily (Topaz for December, December 2015), River, Do You Sea What I Sea (Fiji, Spring 2017), Tallulah (Ooh-La-La, Summer 2009), Song (Diva, Autumn 2012), Sanaa (Sapphire for September, September 2015), Loot the Booty (Viva Antigua, Summer 2016), Royal Navy (In the Navy, Summer 2010)

Just as I thought, River and Do You Sea are dead on dupes. Emily is also kind of close, but it’s got a different shimmer. Tallulah has a less visible shimmer.

Summer 2017 Comparisons - Orly Sea You Soon (Coastal Crush)

Now, I don’t have Orly Skinny Dip, but I think they’re pretty close. I want to say Skinny Dip is a neon and Sea You Soon isn’t, and Sea You Soon’s shimmer is more apparent.

Also, I accidentally grabbed Essie Melody Maker instead of Essie Viva Antigua, but Viva Antigua, like Melody Maker, is so vastly different than Sea You Soon I didn’t bother to take new photos.

From left to right: Melody Maker (Neons, Summer 2015), Rebel (Awaken, Spring 2014), What I Like About Blue (Lite Brites, Summer 2016), Sea You Soon, Teal the Cows Come Home (Brighter By the Dozen, Summer 2006), Tallulah (Ooh-La-La, Summer 2009), Emily (Topaz for December, December 2015), Do You Sea What I Sea? (Fiji, Spring 2017), Royal Navy (In the Navy, Summer 2010). Swatch Stick: Orly Cliffhanger (Epix)

I thought you guys would like to see Royal Navy, but they’re obviously different. It is kind of the lighter version of the same idea, though, and I think they’d be a cute combo. Do You Sea and Emily are also way darker. Rebel’s shimmer is way different and it’s super light. Tallulah and Teal the Cows are darker and What I Like About Blue is lighter, but they’re all closer. I have nothing exactly like Sea You Soon, but we’ll just have to wait and see once I compare it to I Truly Azure You!

Spring 2017 Comparisons - OPI Do You Sea What I Sea (Fiji)

From left to right: Liza (Birthstone, March 2015), Rayne (Delight, Spring 2015), Saint (Enchanted, Holiday 2016), Teal the Cows Come Home (Brighter By the Dozen, Summer 2006), Do You Sea What I Sea?, Emily (Birthstone, December 2015), Xanadu (Fantastical, Holiday 2014), Aquarius (Zodiac, February 2016), December to Remember (Twinkle, Holiday 2014), Dorothy Who? (Wizard of Ooh Ahz, 2001/Winter 2009), Beauty & the Beach (Fiji Fling, Summer 2006). Swatch Sticks: Left: Orly Cliffhanger (Epix), Right: Orly Melodrama (Epix)

Liza and Rayne are super light, although Liza has a similar pink flash. It’s like Do You Sea What I Sea light. Saint is also a lighter version of Do You Sea What I Sea, and the shimmer is more of a pearl than Sea’s micro glitter. Melodrama is way too dark, as are December to Remember, Dorothy Who, and Beauty & the Beach, not to mention their shimmers are all different and except for Melodrama and December to Remember lack the pink/purple shimmer. Teal the Cows Come Home and Cliffhanger are similar but lighter and lack the duochrome, but are in the same ballpark. Aquarius is lighter and has more of a visible flash, but the formula is terrible. I had a hard time with the swatch stick for this one, let alone as a full manicure on the nails. Xanadu is also lighter but this one also has some larger blue glitters in it. Emily is by far the closest thing I have and it’s pretty close. They both have flecky shimmer that goes from blue to pink. However, they’re not the same flash – I can’t seem to get them both to flash pink at the same time – and Emily’s more opaque, and a little lighter. They’re really rather close though.
